Falstaff 94-96 Punkte;
Falstaff 95-97 Punkte;
Mittleres Gelbgrün. In der Nase intensive mineralische Würze, zart nach Orangenschalen, Ananas, sehr suggestives Bukett, tolle Anlage. Am Gaumen ungemein vielschichtig, finessenreiche Struktur

- Domaine Gourt de Moutens 00 (90% Grenache, Rest Syrah/Mourvedre)

(40% Tempranillo, 10% Mazuelo, 10% Garnacha, 40% Others)
Deep intense black cherry colour with violet rims. Very complex spicy nose with strong backbone and hints of leather and toast cigar accent. Ripe fruit blackberries flavours, powerful tannins and rich in alcohol, adding gamy, earthy notes to the ripe crushed berries. Concentrated and well balanced, and a long fruity finish. For drinking now but also with great potential for improvement in bottle. French and Russian oak barrels - Frescobaldi: Luce 2001 (Merlot/Sangiovese 50/50)
Luce 2001 has an intense and vibrant purple colour. The bouquet is distinguished by its elegance and refinement. Fragrances of ripe fruit, cherries, and forest berries mingle with notes of chocolate, leading into a finish of fresh aromas. The entry on the palate is delightfully lavish with well integrated tannins that perfectly balance the alcohol. The flavour is persistent, offering a crescendo finish with a hint of minerals. - Stephan Vineyards: L´Aventure Optimus
(C.S, Syrah, Zinfandel und Petit Verdot)
The 2001 Optimus displays a deep ruby colour, with garnet backlighting, an explosive bouquet of floral, berry and non-fruit notes, and an elegant and lengthy palate. Three thousand cases were produced. Very low yield: 2 – 2.5 tons per acre. 100% New French oak with malolactic fermentation in barrels. Length of aging: 15 months. Blend: 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Syrah, 5% Zinfandel, 3% Petit Verdot

- Noon Winery: Syrah Reserve 99 (96 RP)
Tasting Note: The 1999 Reserve Shiraz still possesses a very deep colour. The nose is full of tar and dark plums typical of a warm vintage from this vineyard. The palate is rich and opulent, with full body and mouth filling flavour. Lots of everything, including alcohol. VG length. Great stuff if you like big wines.
Optimum drinking time: As is typical of the ripest vintages, this wine can be enjoyed now, whilst relatively young or can be cellared further, in this case until 2015 at least. - Noon Winery: C.S. Reserve 99 (95 RP)
The colour in the glass was excellent and still holding great levels of purple hue indicating youth. The nose was subdued on first pouring and after some time and a little coaxing it was opening up to reveal ripe black fruits. Still shy, the palate looked very promising, full bodied and packed but like the nose it was still quite tight and unyielding. Needs decanting. 30 minutes later this wine looked better with more fruit showing on the nose and the palate looking softer and fuller.
Optimum drinking time: Impressive and aging slowly, drink now to 10 years. - Noon Winery: Eclipse 99 (65% Grenache, 35 % Syrah) (94 RP)
Tasting note: There was lots of sediment on the cork upon opening as this bottle had been stored upside down. The cork was in good condition. Remarkably dark in colour for 1999, this wine looked deep red and still had some purple hues to it. The nose appeared quite closed upon the first pour but after 10 minutes in the glass it started to reveal some ripe plum, blackberry, asphalt and cedar/spice aromas. The palate is full bodied with sweet fruit flavours and nice balance.. The finish is moderately long, lasting 30 seconds.
Tasted again the following night after 24 hours breathing: The wine looks a little better, being softer and more relaxed.
Optimum drinking time: Ageing quite slowly, this is attractive now or can be cellared for say another 5 year .

- Gaja: Sperss 1996
GR: 3 Gläser
Power and charm combine in this exotic, black-coloured, beautifully perfumed, balanced Barolo. Sure, it’s a barrique – boosted Nebbiolo, but look at the exquisite result: sweet tannins, full body, exciting violet, blackberry, mint, smoke and tar notes, and a rock-solid but harmonious finish. Best from 2003 through 2010 - Lynch Bages 1996
Rene Gabriel 18 Punkte, Robert Parker (94+): in the flight of young wines, with all the vintages of the nineties represented, this wine stood out for its absolute purity of crème de cassis, ripe fruit, medium to full body, high tannin, wonderful sweetness, massive richness on the mid-palate, and abundant power, density and ripeness. It is clearly the finest Lynch Bages since the 1989 and 1990, maturity 2004-2025 - Cos D´Estournel 1996 (65% C.S, 35% Merlot)
Rene Gabriel 19 Punkte
A great year, during harvesting, the splendid fine weather alternated with slight rain showers. A young, intense colour. Good aromas of preservers and fruits. Exceptionally long in the mouth. Very silky tannins. A dazzling finish, full of flavour, maturity: 2005 to 2025
